What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you understand the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Instead of focusing only on past experiences, CBT empowers you to recognise unhelpful patterns here and now. Through guided exercises, practical strategies, and new perspectives, you’ll learn to challenge limiting beliefs, manage distressing symptoms, and build healthier coping mechanisms. This process not only improves how you feel in the moment but equips you with tools you can use for the rest of your life.

At Horizon CBT, sessions are tailored to your unique circumstances. We’ll work together to identify what’s holding you back, set achievable goals, and track your progress over time. My role is to provide a supportive, non-judgemental environment where you can comfortably share your experiences, gain insights, and develop the confidence to move forward.

Is CBT for me?

CBT can be helpful if you or someone you care about—such as your child—seems caught in a cycle of unhelpful thoughts, overwhelming emotions, or challenging behaviours. It’s often effective for anxiety, low mood, stress, communication difficulties, self-esteem issues, and feeling stuck in unproductive patterns. If you find yourself—or someone close to you—struggling to navigate these challenges or feeling unsure about how to create lasting positive change, CBT can provide a structured, evidence-based framework to help break these cycles and move forward with greater understanding, confidence, and resilience.
